Welcome

Hi.  My name is Jacki, and I am a cookbook addict.

I didn't start out that way.  Five, six years ago I didn't like to cook. At all. I was a marginal cook, using basic cuts of meat and boxed/canned/frozen things for side dishes.

Then our daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, and I was thrown head-first into the world of gluten-free cooking and baking. It didn't start out pretty, I can tell you that. There was much for me to learn, and I knew right away I had two choices. Condemn my family to eating bland food forever and ever, or learn to cook.

So with much determination I bought a few cookbooks and began reading a few cooking blogs, and something happened. My love for cooking grew. And be darned if I didn't become good at it.  At least in my humble opinion.

I probably spend way too much time in the kitchen making messes, but you know what? Sometimes those messes turn into something really good. And when that happens I get a little excited. So I started this blog as a way of sharing my enthusiasm for new recipes, ingredients, cookbooks, and the like.

Also? Because I secretly hope that one day the Food Network will discover that I would be the perfect addition to their cooking show line-up.  I think it's time they add a gluten-free cook to their super-star chefs.  But while I wait for that day to happen, I will chronicle my adventures with food and ingredients here. My photographs and techniques are not perfect, but I am learning. It's always a work in progress.

When I am not in my kitchen cooking, you will most likely find me photographing people and nature, reading, spending time with family and friends, or blogging.  Not always in that order.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you stay a while.
