We have a slight problem....

....remember me telling you about the horse show that we went to on Sunday? Well, I haven't finished narrowing down the pictures yet...I only have 200 to choose from. That is only half of what Peter took.

But that isn't the problem.

The problem is this...

See the unhappy little girl in the picture? Well, she misses one of the horses.

This one in particular:

We met him and his owner/trainer, and we stood and talked with her for the longest time. As soon as she knew that Emma wanted to pet her horse, she scooped her up.

Don't know what it was about this particular horse, but Emma fell in love with him. We didn't know how much until this evening after dinner when she burst into tears and talked about how much she missed the horse.

So I thought of a solution. The stuffed horse you see her holding is from my Aunt Kathy (her great-aunt). I told Emma that whenever she misses the horse, to hug her stuffed one, and that would make her feel better. They look very much alike.

Minus the pink boots.

So after Emma went to bed, we did a little bit of sleuthing online, and found the lady online. Thank heavens she has a website! So I am going to contact her, and perhaps one of these days we can make a trip up there to visit.

In the meantime...looks like we will have to invest in some horse-riding lessons.

That's the saddest little face. I hope that she feels better. Maybe horseback riding will help.

Pristine loves horses too so we take her to an equestrian club for pony rides and participate in sample rides with the big horses.

At the end of the day she says she wants to go back the day after...

BTW, Emma really looks so sad in the photo. I hope you can take her to the horsey she loves again!

Horseback riding lessons are a great idea. You learn not only riding, but how to take care of the horse.

I still vividly and happily remember my lessons from when i was a kid.

Hej Jacki... I was worried at first when I saw the title of this post. Glad it's fixable w/ some horseback riding lessons... and you're a great Mom to have found the horse's website. An idea, maybe Emma could send a box of carrots to the horse and the owner could take a picture :-) Or maybe Emma could draw pictures to send to the horse & owner... something like a penpal :-)

Ah, that is so sweet. Poor Emma. I like her stuffed horse.

I guess you could always get a puppy. ;-)

Horseback riding lessons sound like so much fun. Maybe she will find another horse that she can love just as much and see on a more regular basis.

She'd love to see that horse again. Good work mommy!

My daughter went through the same thing. We had to go back several times over the years to visit the first horse she ever rode (Freckles) to make sure that he was ok.

sounds like a great plan....and if that does not work, buy the horse! :o) Ok, kidding! But he is a beauty!

She certainly has a heart for animals....from the tiny ones to the larger ones. What a sweet girl!

Good thing you aren't allowed to keep one in your backyard! My youngest was totally enamored with horses for several years, right around Emma's age. He has a handful of stuffed horses (various sizes) and they have been wonderful companions. Lucky boy now has a friend with horses and a small pasture! He loves to visit and help care for the horses and do a little tandem riding.
