Question: Did they turn the light out at the end of the tunnel in order to save on electricity? Or budget cuts?

Lately it just seems that we can never get a break from bad, worrisome news.

Yesterday we got an email from Peter's mom, explaining in more detail the very unexpected surgery that his step-father will be having tomorrow. About two weeks ago he went in for some tests and they found a tumor in his nasal passages. In order to operate and get it out, they have to do the following:

1. One doctor will cut him open from ear to ear, up over his forehead (following the hairline), and pull the skin down.

2. A second doctor will cut him open at the bottom of his nose and pull that skin up.

3. Then they will open up his skull and operate.

It is supposed to be an 8 hour surgery. We don't know how long he will be in the hospital recovering. I assume it will be more than just overnight since they can't exactly sew him back up, slap on a bandaid and send him home.

It's just a very unsettling feeling, knowing a parent is having a major surgery and you can't be there. Fortunately, Peter's sister, brother, and his girlfriend will be with her. But still. I know Peter wants to be there with his mom. And I know we won't be sleeping well until we know that everything is okay.

So yeah, with that happening with Peter's parents on one side of the Atlantic, and everything happening with my parents over here on this side of the Atlantic (click here if you don't know what I am talking about), we are about ready to go screaming up the street.

And I know it doesn't do much good to sit and worry. I grew up in church hearing preachers quote the verses like "Casting all your care upon Him for He cares for you." And I'll admit it's hard to not worry. Especially when there are so many unknowns.

And for the most part I try to stay positive. So tonite I'll be thankful I can go home and hug Emma.

But if you think about it, could you say a little prayer for Peter's step-father?

So sorry to hear about Peter's step-dad. It is very worrying when you can't be there. My mum went through a triple heart bypass and everything went OK, but you still can't help worrying.

Thanks for your visit today. Yes, Stockholm is a beautiful city.

absolutely prayers are going up right after this comment!

You do just what I do, I continually have to cast my care upon Jesus. Over and over.

I get great comfort out of hugging my kids too! Sometimes they are like MOM let me go, and I say shush......gimme a hug! lol

Sorry to hear about Peter's step-father. I don't know what I would do if my parents needed major surgery like that, and I couldn't fly back to be with them.

I will pray for him (and for you all, too)!

sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.

  6. Prayer said. I have goosebumps reading about the surgery...lifting his WHOLE face OFF?! Yerch..! I read about your parents too. I watch mine go through crap after crap with one sibling or another and it's funny that their stress becomes mine as well??

We are having financial stress about our house back in Utah not seling and not renting out either, and I soo get the light at the end of the tunnel is broken... am trying hard to find blessings to be thankful for. Hubby's job is great, and he's getting soooo much praise for what he's doing..which NEVER happened at law firms. We feel very good about our move, just wish we could get unentagled from our life back there so we can really get to finding way to enjoy it here!

Thanks for reminding me I have blessings to be thankful for..It IS Thanksgiving time after all!!

  14. VE Says:

Wow, that's a big deal. I hope everything goes well.

Oh, and that light is still at the end of the tunnel...let's pretend it's not an oncoming train...

PS – You better not miss my post for Fri 11/14. I’m one post shy of 600 and out of those there are only 3 current pictures of VE and NONE of him when he was younger. Ever wonder what teen VE looked like? Here’s your opportunity to find out along with a mega embarrassing meme as well. It’s not pretty.

  15. Nadine Says:

I will pray for him. It's really hard to be away during this time. I will also keep Peter and you in prayer as you wait to hear the outcome.

I'm so sorry, that must be so tough on all of you. I'll say extra prayers tonight.
Oh, and those shoes you got? Just LOVELY. I have shoe envy, and will have to go shopping this weekend. For Kevin's coming home outfit, of course :D

  17. sorry to hear this. you have my prayers.

  18. Jason Says:

There's always a light. It may sometimes appear dim and you might bump into walls trying to find it, but its there.

Just make sure the light does not appear to get bigger while your sanding still. If so, that's not a good sign. Move out of the way.

  19. In my prayers and best wishes to all.
