Jacki
So now I am the only one left in my little office (I share an office with two other tech writers). One is on vacation and the other has a sick kid. So it is just me. The only sound being the clicking of my keyboard and the airplanes flying over the building every 30 seconds.

Literally. We are right in the flight path for one of the runways at Dulles International Airport, so all the planes landing on one of the runways pass right over our building. In the morning it is small commuter planes. At precisely 2:00pm the largeer planes come in and the windows shake.

Today it's pretty cool because it's quite foggy outside so it looks like the planes are just materializing out of nowhere as they approach our building.

Anywho...

Today on the radio the DJ's posed an interesting question. Would you live in a house that someone had died in?

Would I? It would only bother me if it were a violent crime. But if someone died naturally in their sleep or whatever, I'd be okay with that.

I think.

So what about you?

But well...only 2 more hours and my 3-day weekend starts! W00t!

Have any exciting plans? I am gonna go shopping.

Uh, you rent right? How do you know no one has died in your house?

Our house is 28 years old. It's had two previous owners. Since the mortality rate for humans is 100%, the chances are at least better than slim.

It doesn't bother me. I've slept in a bed someone died in.

Surprisingly, our office is hopping today. It's been pretty dead a couple days this week, so we figured that today would be, too. Not so.

Yeah, I'd live in a house where someone died. But I'd prefer not to know that it had happened.

I've slept in two different death beds. No big. This house is 150 years old. I'm pretty sure there were a few deaths here. Suspicious stain on the floor..

  4. Jacki Says:

Jason: Yeah we rent, but the house isn't that old.

Ronnica: I am falling asleep in my office...

Witchypoo: Yes, well, after 150 years you'd expect at least one or two people to have died.

back when my children were small and I was divorced, I rented my aunt's house because the rent was cheap and she let me slide a lot when I could't come up with the money. She had killed my uncle in that house in a drunken brawl. I was not afraid because I loved my uncle. I also had a brother who died in an accident and had some of his belongings in the house.

One night I went to a party and got a little tipsy, so a guy I knew brought me home. When the guy walked into the kitchen where my uncle was stabbed, he shivered and said "I feel like I am close to someone who died." Then he walked into the living room and was standing by an antique radio that had belonged to my dead brother. The guy shivered again, and said "I just had that feeling again." I showed him the door. I felt like my ghosts were there looking out for me.

Karen: Okay, you win the prize for most interesting story! Yes, your ghost family was looking out for you!!

When we bought our house my SIL (a realtor) did some research to see if she could tell if there had been any deaths in the home because she said she would never live in a home that someone died in...the thought had never occured to me before she said that!

I wanna go shopping this weekend too! I think we both deserve a new outfit for surviving the first days of our kids being in school! LoL

  8. Jeff Says:

I'm at work too, and I think my clock has stopped.

  9. Memarie Lane Says:

When you rent, you never really know. I did live in a hotel where someone had died and it was extremely spooky.

  10. Jyl Says:

I think I would live in the house, but I wouldn't want to know too many details about the death. And, I'd hope the person was nice in case his/her ghost decided to drop in. Casper's aunt or something!

So... I was just in Virginia and flew home from Dulles. I can picture the general location of where you are at. It is sooooo beautiful there. We had such an awesome trip.

  11. Dee Says:

shop for me! I have to pay for car repairs boo hoo!

  12. debra Says:

I wouldn't want to live in a house where there had been violence, even if nobody died...but living where a natural death happened wouldn't bother me.

    Have a good weekend!

  13. angie Says:

I don't have any plans that are worth mentioning, sadly. :) I would live in a house where someone had died. As long as I didn't know about it. ha ha.

  14. Bee Says:

No way. If someone did die in my house, I do not want to know. I admit to being a chicken sh*t! ;o)

  15. Stephanie Says:

I agree with you, not if it was a violent death or suicide. And maybe not if it was a relative.

We are going to the zoo and having Delilah's first birthday party. Probably shopping too, my mil is here after all.

    Have a good weekend!

  16. Karen Says:

Jackie, thanks, I never win anything, hahahaha.

  17. Cat Says:

I'm with you on the no violent crimes, but otherwise ok with the idea.

  18. nikki Says:

I am trying not to duct tape a 4 year old that is seriously trying my patience and it is only 8am on Saturday.

  19. mindi Says:

I work right on the tarmac and know what it's like to have the planes fly overhead and shake the building - I can't say it makes it easy to concentrate!!
No, I don't think I can live in a house someone had died in. Unless I knew them well . . .

  20. Heck yeah. As long as their not still there, I'm good. Ok, truthfully, our first house-- I must have asked every one of the neighbors if the lady had died in it-- wanted to see if their stories matched up.
Enjoy your peace and quiet (lol).
