So the other day I was half-listening to the news while making dinner, and the following story caught my attention:
According to a survey done for Careerbuilder.com, about 20% of US workers attend "happy hour" events after work and had this to say about it:
Most attend the so-called happy hour to bond with colleagues
About 15% go to hear the latest office gossip
About 13% go because they feel obligated to
They also admitted to the following on at least one occasion:
Roughly 16% had bad-mouthed a colleague
10% had shared a secret about a colleague
8% admitted they drank too much and acted unprofessionally
5% said they had shared a secret about the company
4% confessed to singing karaoke
But it was this statistic that got me to laughing:
At least 8% admitted to kissing a co-worker
Why did I laugh at this? Simple. To borrow the line from the new song I Kissed a Girl...
"I kissed a coworker and I liked it..."
I just ended up liking it a bit too much, since Emma came along 10 months later. But well...
So, tell me, what is the most embarrassing thing you've done in front of colleagues (former or present)?

I misread this at first and thought you were going to tell us about the time you kissed a girl. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed :(
I haven't worked from day to day in an office with other people for about 5 years. Then, I worked with a bunch of people a lot older than me: so there certainly was no office romance to speak of (Even if I hadn't been married at the time).
If I have done anything else really embarrassing at work, I have certainly recessed those memories as I cannot recall them now.
Jason: LOL! Sorry to dissappoint, but the only girl I kiss these days is Emma.
hmmm you sure about that?
but yeah pretty good indeed ;-) the kissing part that is
Kevin was my boss! Guess I liked him a bit too much!
You know I really don't do embarrassing things very often, at least not at work. I don't have a single good story to tell you.
Hey, what? What, what, what? I missed that story somehow. Do be kind and send me the link!
I only had "collegues" when I was a teenager, so I am not sure you can even call them that. :P
Tequila.
Fell off bar stool.
Lost shoe.
All in the same night.
And that one guy still looks at me a little funny.
Now why am I thinking Tequila makes her... shoes fall off ;-)
I first met my husband at work too. I think that's the way it goes...
Yay you put my button up....how nice of you! :)
to go back to your previous post I thought you had a exotic look like you were European or something, your beautiful!
Aren't you glad you did kiss your co-worker!!
I am proud to say I never went to happy hour since I didn't want to spend any more time than I needed to with my coworkers.
I too kissed my coworker and he became Mr. Bee. ;o)
Oh my...do I have to tell. ((BLUSH)) OK, well the one I remember, heehee, was when we (co-workers) went bowling. First I fell trying to throw the ball and THEN, when I made a strike, I turned around, jumped and made a funny face right at the same time a "friend" clicked my picture. Now that was one I had to live with for a long, long time. :)
Your turn!
