If there is one thing that Emma loves to do, it is crafts. Coloring, painting, clipping out stuff. You name it, she loves to do it.
And The Very Hungry Caterpillar has always been one of our favorite books to read.
So when I saw this idea from Becky at Boys Rule My Life, I knew I had to
First, you find your little artist. Oh yes, she is an artist. If you compliment her on her work, she will agree and tell you she is a "very good artist."

Next, you cut up an empty egg carton to resemble little caterpillars. Then, you start decorating your little catterpillars with paints, glitter, buttons...anything you have around.

Don't forget to snap some pictures of your little Picaso at work:

The finished product:
So, my question to you is, what crafts to do your kids enjoy? Any inspiring websites to share?
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit An Island Life for some more Aloha Friday fun!

my little picaso (going 18 months now) loves crafts too much he snacks on the paper, crayons and glue.
Emma is so pretty! i think it's great that you encourage her artistic side!
Emma is such a beautiful and charming girl.
Yes, I love making all sorts of crafts with my son. I usually get ideas from books and magazines.
Here's a little piece of ocean that we made together.
What a fund craft to use with one of our favorite books! Emma is such a doll! :)
How fun! We love anything Eric Carle and will have to give that a try.
Over Christmas my oldest daughter Abby (7) took scraps of wrapping paper and made a purse with a handle for me. She even put my initials on the front! Then she was heartbroken when I did not move all the contents of my purse into her homemade paper purse! We do play with it a lot. She is a terrific crafter!
Those are ALMOST as adorable as the little artist who created them!!! My youngest children are 18 years old now... so it's been a while... but back in the day, I was the Queen of Crafts! I don't think I have "pictures" of any of them though... how sad. I DO know that I kept a HUUUUGE box that I threw all kinds of "trash" in -- milk bottles (and caps), deodorant lids, different boxes (spaghetti, oatmeal, cracker - whatever - just lots of different shapes and sizes) ... and just ANY piece of junk plastic that came into the house! EVERYTHING was craft supplies! I did a craft with my kids almost every day -- so I had lots of the MAIN supplies - the paints and glitter and glue and beads and buttons and pipe cleaners and all that! But SOME days, I would just bring out the box. And it was like Free-For-All Friday! Just MAKE something! ONE time, my son made a spaceship that ended up winning him a $50 gift certificate to a toy store!!! It was sooooooo cool! LOL! Happy crafting!!!
While I don't have kids of my own, I do teach teenagers who revert to little ones as soon as you pull out the craft supplies. Currently we are casting faces for Mardi Gras masks. Lot's of trust issues going on, but all good work.
Abby loves any and every craft she can get her hands on. Hannah really isn't as in to it and Becca's too little to really know yet (although she likes to try!). We don't do crafts at home as often as we probably should (or Abby would like) though.
Emma is adorable in these pictures! Especially the first one...her eyes are so gorgeous. My girls have made caterpillars, and it is great fun. Their favorite craft project is watercolor painting. I don't know why it holds such high appeal, but they love it :)
I was so busy looking at your beautiful daughter, I forgot to look at the craft. :) She really is lovely!
Our little one is too young for crafts, but my nieces love to color and draw. I even introduced them to stamping this year!
I avoid crafts like the plague. I might have to do that one with the kids though, they love caterpillars and that doesn't look to terrifying as crafts go.
i used to do crafts with my older kinds, painting on big sheets of paper in the yard, making snowflakes etc. BUT now I don't do much at all. My youngest likes to draw so I keep him supplied with paper and pencils but that's about it.

My daughter loves KidzPix - an art program. She's so proud when she prints out her masterpieces.
What a cutie! and I love the idea of these caterpillars. :-)
